Trekking

Through that installer darkness
Of an expanding universe
As entropy limits to zero
Lovers are lost, but not love itself

The lonely search for hope
Some redemption, somewhere
One trudges one step at a time
That firm granite slope – rock of permanence

Timelessly you bear
The weight of many weary legs
Silent witness to all has come to pass
And yet may unfold
Of an unrelenting imminence

Like that book
Bought and unread
On the shelve with stories yet to reveal
Old granite you have tales to tell

But shall not
Your grace is your silence
Your stoic greyness
Bears the weight of weary hearts
